Senior Wellness Activities Together

Through a partnership with Chung Pak-Everlasting Pine Senior Housing in Manhattan’s Chinatown, ISS provides dedicated programs and services to the senior residents.
The programs enable each senior to share their life-long skills and learn from others so that they feel more confident, recognize that they have much to offer, and can continue to thrive.

ISS provides a variety of programs and services including but not limited to, arts & crafts; physical activities such as, chair yoga; social activities, such as Karaoke; educational workshops, such as immigrant rights and public benefits; life planning; civic engagement and participation (citizenship classes and application, voter registration and participation); conversational English/ESL; healthy aging (stress management, safe medication use, making positive lifestyle choices).

During the pandemic, we distributed care packages, including food, personal protection equipment, safety alarms to the seniors, and arranged for on-site COVID vaccinations, boosters, and testing. We continually assess the physical and psycho-social needs of the residents to ensure that we develop and implement programs and services that best meet their needs.

The majority of the senior residents are age 75 and over with limited English proficiency or monolingual Cantonese or Toisanese speakers, without a multi-generational, supportive household, feel isolated, and are in need for social and physical activities, engagement, support and services.

We also make all the programs and services available to the residents’ home care attendants, the majority of whom are recent immigrants with limited English proficiency, as well as seniors in the community.
